Santo Domingo City Tour
We'll pick you up at your hotel in Juan Dolio at the indicated time and take you to Santo Domingo. Are you ready to explore the Dominican capital?
First, we'll visit the Tres Ojos National Park to discover the secrets of its spectacular cave and a freshwater lake. Do they hide any secrets? We'll find out on the tour! Our route will continue passing by the Columbus Lighthouse, which is said to be the resting place of Christopher Columbus,
Next, we'll stop to admire the imposing exterior of the Presidential Palace. We'll observe the façade of this impressive neoclassical architectural ensemble and, from here, we'll go to a local restaurant to enjoy a delicious buffet lunch with typical dishes such as rice, meat stew and beans.
Once we've regained our strength, we'll begin a guided tour of the Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo, where our first stop will be the famous Alcázar de Colón, where the admiral once lived. We'll also visit the Church of Santa María de la Encarnación, the first cathedral—or "Primatial Cathedral"—in the Americas.
The tour will continue through Plaza de España and along Calle de Las Damas, the first street in the New World. Walking down this avenue, we’ll arrive at the National Pantheon, where the remains of illustrious historical figures from the Dominican Republic rest. We’ll also admire the beautiful facade of the 18th-century Jesuit church.
Afterwards, we'll stroll through the lively and pedestrian streets of the Colonial area, where there are art exhibitions, various cafes and artisans. We'll visit a typical handicraft store to learn about Larimar and Amber, a semiprecious stone and resin that are highly prized in the Dominican Republic. Then, we'll give you some free time to go shopping on the commercial street of Calle El Conde or to explore and have a coffee in one of the area's squares.
We'll then regroup and head to the Malecón, the seafront promenade, to finish the tour with a beautiful view of the Caribbean Sea.
Finally, we'll return to Juan Dolio, where we are scheduled to arrive 10 hours after pickup.
