Day Trip Details 

After picking you up from your hotel, we’ll set off on a fascinating journey to Salvador de Bahía. Founded in 1549 and home to Caramuru and Paraguaçu, this historic city will surprise you with every metre you travel. Are you ready to discover its secrets?

On arrival, we’ll stop first at the iconic Fort of Santo Antônio da Barra, where the Barra Lighthouse stands in all its splendour atop Ponta do Padrão, offering us a truly picture-postcard view. We’ll continue into the Upper City until we reach the famous Pelourinho, the heart and historic centre of Salvador. There, we’ll take a moderately strenuous walk amongst its colourful houses, Baroque balconies and steep cobbled streets that bear witness to centuries of cultural fusion.

From Praça Municipal, we’ll take in the views and descend to the Lower City using the Lacerda Elevator, one of the world’s first urban lifts. Midway through the day, you’ll have some free time to enjoy lunch at your own expense and recharge your batteries.

In the afternoon, we’ll head to the Sacred Hill to visit the iconic Basilica of Senhor do Bonfim. Here, you’ll be able to immerse yourselves in the local faith and tradition by tying your own ‘fitinha do Bonfim’ to the temple’s railings whilst making a wish. The tour will also take us to explore the charming Ribeira neighbourhood before making our final stop at the Mercado Modelo, the largest craft market in the capital of Bahia, where you’ll have plenty of time to shop for local souvenirs.

Finally, we’ll head back to your accommodation, bringing the tour to a close approximately 13 hours after pickup.
