Short on time but don't want to leave Morocco without setting foot in the desert? This trip to the Zagora Desert is the most popular option for those who want to sleep in a haima and ride a camel without spending too many hours on the road. You'll cross the High Atlas and discover the gateway to the Sahara in just 2 days, heading into a landscape dominated by stone desert.
2-Day Trip Details
Day 1: Ait Ben Haddou - Draâ Valley - Zagora
On the first day, we'll leave Marrakech behind at the time indicated for Zagora. On the way, we'll pass through the Tizi-N-Tichka mountain pass, a road that crosses the High Atlas at 2260 meters, and from where various Amazigh villages can be seen.
After stopping at the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, we continue on the way to Zagora, crossing the Anti Atlas and seeing the Amazigh village of Agdez, the Draâ Valley and its palm grove, the last sign of vegetation before entering the desert.
The tour arrives in Zagora with enough time to ride a camel and enjoy the desert sunset
Having eaten a traditional dinner, we'll spend the night in an authentic Amazigh tent.
Day 2: Zagora - Draâ Valley - Ouarzazate
Wake up early on day 2 to enjoy an unmissable sight: daybreak in the desert. After the sun has risen, and having eaten a good breakfast & taking a refreshing shower, we'll take a 40-minute camel ride through the desert.
Once again, we pass through the Draâ Valley and Agdez to arrive at Ouarzazate, where we'll visit the Taourit Kasbah.
In the afternoon, we head back on the road to Marrakech. You may eat in Ouarzazate or on the road.
The tour arrives back in Marrakech in the late afternoon.
