Lake Enriquillo Day Trip + Crocodile Spotting
Tour Details
At the designated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Barahona and set off on our excursion to Lake Enriquillo, the largest lake in the Caribbean. Did you know it was named after Enriquillo, a Taíno leader who was appointed cacique of Bahoruco?
During the journey, we'll enjoy the beautiful landscapes of this part of the Dominican Republic and stop at a viewpoint for photos.
On arriving at the lake, we'll board a speedboat to explore this extraordinary place, the only body of water in the region located more than 40 meters (131 feet) below sea level. We'll also head toward one of the shoreline areas where crocodiles live. Spectacular!
Before wrapping up, we'll stop in Neyba, known as the city of grapes for its impressive annual grape production. You'll have 1 hour of free time to rest and try some typical Dominican food.
We'll then head to Las Marías, a beautiful public bathing spot where you'll have around 1 hour to explore this stunning area at your own pace.
After 8 hours on the road, we'll say our goodbyes back at your hotel in Barahona. See you next time!

Crocodiles are common in Lake Enriquillo. However, as animals are unpredictable, we cannot guarantee how many you'll be able to spot during the tour.
